The Kadapa District Vontimitta Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple is a major Pilgrim & Tourists attraction for devotees. Vontimitta Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple – History, Legend & facts:
Vontimitta was also called EKASILA Nagaram but the current name is a union of two brother Vontudu & Mittudu. History states that in ancient times the current place has a water spring called Rama Thirtham which was formed by Sri Rama During his Vanavaasam. The two brothers helped a local king Kampana son of Bukkaraya of Vijayanagara Empire to quench his thirst by drinking in Rama Thirtham. Main Special attraction of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple is the Idols of Lord Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana are carved out of single black stone and they are on a common Pedestal. The Three idols are spaced uniformly & Hanuman is absent at the feet of Rama. Another Legend is that Lord Rama did not meet Hanuman when he passed this place but stayed with Seetha devi & Lakshmana during his Vanavaasam.

The main inner sanctum of temple do not have a high rising peetham for Idols placement. The three idols of Lord Rama, Seetha & Lakshmana are sculpted on a single rock and their height is around 4 to 4.5 feet. Lord Rama is called Kodanda Rama here and Hanuman is absent in the Inner sanctum.
Temple is constructed on a small Hill or a Mitta. It takes 30 to 50 steps to reach the main Gopuram for Entrance. The temple has 4 Raja Gopurams constructed on four sides for royal entry based on the customs.
