Sri Subramanyeswara Mopidevi Temple Darshan Importance & History:

The current Surbahmanyeswara Swamy Kshetra was first identified by Sage Agastya during his crossing of Vindhyachala Mountains. When sage narada told Vindya about Meru mountain height & Greatness, Vindhya started to rise for the skies. Many sages daily divine rituals are disturbed because of Vindhya’s shadow. So Devas and Ganas prayed Sage Agastya and asked to solve the crisis. Being a merciful person, Agastya and his wife Lopamudra started to southern India from Kashi city. Druing their trip Vindhya was reaching for skies with his size. Agastya asked Vindhya to stop growing until his return to North India.
Vindhya promised to remain the same until his return. Till now Sage agasthya was doing his Tapas in South Indian states and he installed thousands of Shivlingas, Skatipeetam temples in deep forests. One time during his lecture about Subrahmanyeswara Avtar Sage Agastya Identified the place as Mopidevi and installed Valli Devasena Sametha subrahmanyeswara swamy idols. Mopidevi is the place where kumara swamy did penance to become the deity of Nagas. Here Subrahmanya Swamy will appear as a Naga Raja in sila form.
