History of Gutika Siddeswaram Siva – Ista kameswari devi Temple:

The temple inscription states that this kshetra was the peetam of Sage Agastya (one for saptarshi & Chiranjeevi) in Kaliyga. Sage agastya has lived for some years doing severe penance. After Sati devi self immolation in Daksha Yagna she took a re-birth as Parvati Devi (daughter or King Parvata and Mena devi). During their wedding Agastya sage was not able to visit in time due to his old age. So He prayed for Lord Shiva and parvati to convey his regard seeing their Kalyana Mahotsavam. While praying to shiva and he took a swallow of air, In that instant Lord shiva manifested with Ista Kameswari devi before the sage. Then Agastya performed marriage for them with his own hands and attained divine enlightment here. There are many reference about the importance of Agastya sage in Indian Mythology and he migrated to present day kerala state after his stay. Siddeswara is the name given to Shiva here and Ista Kameswari is the name for Parvati devi. There are a number attractions in Siddeswaram forest temple with caves of Maharshis, Stone of Sage Agastya used for his Tapas & Nandi dhara water stream with medicinal benefits. Lord Shiva appeared here in a jiffy amount of time taken for a hiccup. So in Telugu it is called Gutiaka Siddeswaram.

Sadguru sri Kasi Reddy Nayana or Kasi Jejinayana was born in Manchalagatla village in Kadapa district. He was born to be a Yogi and travelled many places for doing penance. While going to Garudadri hill on his way he has to cross the present day Siddeswaram forest. At the present day temple location, Sri Istakameswari Devi and Lord Siddeswara swamy are lost to time without Puja & their temples went underground. From three to four centuries the temples are ruined due to natural causes. Kasi Nayana swamy stopped by Sri Istakameswari Ammavaru here by calling his name. He asked here who is she and he cannot see her because its her invisible form. Ammavaru told that she is Isthakameswari and she wanted him to rennovate the current temple ruins.

Kasi nayana swamy promised her he will come back after his Tapasya on garudadri in Ahobilam. Nearly after 30 years Kasi Nayana Swamy returned to present day Siddeswaram Temple premises and re-instituted Shiva Linga & Istha Kameswari devi temples. His favourite and advent devotee Siddayya swamy was appointed as the caretaker of temple & Kasi nayana Swamy started Nirata Annadanam Scheme in the deep forest for visitors. Right now the temple is managed by the sons of Sri Siddayya Swamy and they also provide free accommodation Facilities for night stay & Free Annadanam Morning, Afternoon and Evening.

Sadguru Kasinayana Swamy was the Annadana prabhu in Rayalaseema region. His severe penance for 15 years in Kashi granted divine darshan by Goddess Annapurneswari. Gutika Siddeswaram Important Facts to know & Benefits of visiting here:

Siddeswaram temple complex is in deep forests and only a ghat road is the path to reach there. There are no Vehicle service points or other facilities here once you enter the Temple arch.

There is no Mobile signal coverage near the temple and devotees should come out of forest for proper communication.

Best days & time to visit is Sivaratri three festive days, Sankranti, Ugadi, Dussera, Masa Sivaratri (Day before Amavasya) every month and all other Hindu temples.

Devotees must bring the items before hand for Rudrabhishekam. The Gutika Siddeswaram Temple is a plastic free zone. Please carry the trash with you after visitng the temple to outside of forest.

Every Monday morning @ 06:00 AM Shuttle Bus service was provided by APSRTC for Gutika Siddeswaram & Bhiravakona from Udayagiri.
