Balkampeta Yellamma Thalli Temple is constructed by Local Gouda devotees as a sanctum for Mother Renuka Maata or Kalika Devi. She is also one of the Saptha Matruka Devathams in Shaktism and her grace is endless for any one who worships her. Local people annually offer Bonam from every house in Aashada Maasam or Mid-June & July Month along with animal Sacrifices. Bonalu was the most famous celebration done in Balkampeta Yellamma Pochamma Temple every year. In mid 18th Century, A military regiment of Hyderabad city area was away to Ujjain for a campaign under East India Company. A plague brokeout in Secunderabad, Hyderabad areas claiming thousands of lives. So They prayed Maha Kalika Devi in Ujjain Mahakaleswar temple and installed Yellamma Temples in Balkampeta, Golconda and other areas. The Devi pleased by devotion of people eradicated the plague.

Sri Yellamma Pochamma Talli Bonalu Balkampeta Dates & Schedule 2026:

Bonalu means coveying gratitude to Sri Mahakalika Devi for her divine grace & blessings. Every year Ladies and Sumangali, Unmarried girls prepare bonam with brass or earthenware pots decorated with neem leaves, Flowers etc. They travel to Each Yellamma temple on barefoot. Once they reach the temple they will sprinkle Haldi water or Turmeric water on the feet of Sri Yellamma Talli to pacify her anger & Wrath. Once Bonam is offered in temple without mishaps, they will conclude their sacred vows by sacrificing Animals and celebrate with near and dear.

Male Devotees who have vowed to perform Tandavam of Potharaju will wear Sri Potharaju swamy costume and carry Whips while performing dance & Singing on streets.

Sri Jagadamba Temple Bonam is celebrated on First Sunday in Aashadam Month.

Sri Balkampeta Yellamma Thalli Temple Bonam is celebrated on Second Sunday of Aashadam Month.

Sri Pochamma & Katta Maisamma Bonam is celebrated on Third Sunday of Aashadam Month.
