Badrachalam Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple is located on the banks of River Godavari in Badrachalam Dirstrict Telangana. During the reign of Tanisha Nawab of Golconda Sultanate, A Tehsildar named Kancherla Gopanna (Bhakta Ramadasu) built the current temple complex for Lord Seetha-Ram with funds from Local citizens. Sage Badra got the divine darshan of Lord Seetha Rama with Lakshmana swamy here and he transformed into Badra Giri. The main attraction in the idols of Seetha Rama Swamy were Lady seetha sits in the lap of Sri Rama. This temple is only one where they both give darshan in single formation of idol.
History of Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Badrachalam:
During the end of Treta Yuga Sage Badhra done sever penance for Lord Rama Divine Darshan. Sri Rama Chandra with Seetha and Lakshmana appeared before him to fulfill his Penance. Badhra asked Lord Rama to manifest with his consort on him permanently for Devotees Protection during coming yugas. Kancherla Gopanna was posted as the Tahsildar of Badrachalam area. He was given divine intervention by lord Rama to construct a temple here. After seeking permission from the king Gopanna constructed the temple from funds provided by local people. A mis-communication between the King and Tahsildar about the funds used for temple landed Gopanna in Jail.
Lord Ram & lakshman appeared before Tanisha in his dream after Gopanna was imprisoned and paid the tax owe to state. Taneesha later realized the Bhakti of Gopanna and called him Bhakta Ramadasu. Gopanna wrote Dasaradhi Satakam (108 Poems collection) in honor of Lord Sri Seetha Rama Chandra. From then it is a custom of the state to participate in Sri Seetha Rama Kalyanam & present the Silk garments for lord Seetha Rama swamy.
