Many Eons ago there was a water source originating from the base of current day Shiva linga and many rishis, sages have prayed to Lord shiva in Mahanandi Forests. Once the local King Chalukya dynasty got a supreme vision of Lord Shiva in his Linga rupa at the near by forests of Nallamala. A diving cow by lords wish was separated from its herd during the forest grazing and stopped near an ant hill to give milk for Lord shiva every day. King was doubted about the cows behavior started spying its daily routine. The gopalaka found the strange milk giving of the cow in an anthill and reported to Raja. When raja visited the place & gopalaka disturbed the Cow while giving milk. the cow scared of gopalaka and stomped on the ant hill with its hooves. Then the stomped mound of Ant hill later appeared as Shivalinga and a continuous water stream was found below the lingam. The chalukya king has constructed a big temple and Sri Kameswari Devi was also appeared along with Shiva. A big nandi statue was erected and its ambience brought the name as Mahanandi to the temple.

The most special thing about Mahanandeeswara Swamy Temple is its continous flowing Koneru. The temple koneru was the source of 30000 acres irrigation. The waters originate at the base of shiva linga and it flows trough the Nandi statue in the temple main koneru called Rudra Pushkarini. People are allowed to take bath every day except Aarti & Abhishekam timings. The koneru snan entry is free of cost and temple has many sevas, poojas & abhishekams for people. The temperature of water in Koneru is adjusted according to season & weather. The architects also made sure of the temple to stand for thousands of years. Even during famine and severe drought the water flows continuously at the same rate. A person while taking bath in Temple koneru can see a strand of hair on the bottom and the water is alkaline in nature. Having a bath and offering prayer in Rudra Koneru Mahanandeeswara Swamy Temple will grant wishes and clear the skin problems, physical ailments.

Another important thing about Sri Mahanandi Temple is Swamy vari Nijarupa Darshan. Generally the shiva linga was covered with silver mas of the same linga shape. Visit online portal of srisailam and select Online booking menu and choose Darshan Booking Option. If you are a new pilgrim to book darshan, one must create his Sign user id and password. Select Signup button below.

Use mobile number, Display Profile name, your desired password and select Sign up button. Once your proceed with above step, Website will ask for OTP validation of your mobile number. Enter OTP received via SMS to your mobile and your user account is registered with Srisailam Website successfully.

Devotees can book only darshan tickets for Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Bhramaraamba devi temple. Select the desired ticket among available options of various prices.

After selecting the darshan type choose Date and number of persons you are going to book. Now read all the darshan instructions before proceeding to payment. You can book maximum 5 tickets per each transaction.

Enter Devotee name, Age, Gender, ID Card type, Id card number and recheck everything before proceeding to pay for darshan tickets by selecting Confirm Booking button. Now list of available seva tickets with their description and price will appear in menu. Choose type of darshan or seva you want to book. Devotees can book single or couple tickets maximum per one transaction.

Choose your desired date from booking calendar and fill the devotee details in the fields below. Pilgrims need to enter their Full Name, Date of Birth, Age, Type of their ID proof, Gothram name, ID Proof number. After then upload scanned copy of your ID proof.

Important Note:

Devotees need to observe that there are two types of abhishekam tickets available in Srisaila Mallikarjuna swamy temple. One is done @ Swamy vari Garbhalayam (Main Inner temple) and another is done @ sri Vruddha Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple (UPALAYAM). Sparsha Darshan is only possible in srisailam temple by booking Main Abhishekam Ticket only. Laksha Bilvarchana Seva is only available in current booking mode.
